People suffer less from what is wrong with them than from what in them has never been shepherded toward growth.
At BJTG, we understand much of psychological distress not simply as evidence of pathology, but as the consequence of developmental, relational, and existential capacities that have not yet been fully cultivated.
Many individuals arrive in therapy during moments of disruption, transition, or threshold: entering adulthood, navigating intimate relationships, becoming parents, confronting loss, facing leadership responsibilities, etc. In contemporary culture, these disruptions go overlooked, transitions are left unmarked, and thresholds often occur without guidance, shared language, or communal recognition. In the absence of acknowledgement, intentional marking, and meaningful initiation, emotional pain is easily interpreted as personal failure or defect.
Within a relational container that emphasizes reflection, responsibility, and meaning-making, suffering can gradually be metabolized into greater emotional capacity, psychological coherence, and relational presence.
Therapy can function as a place where the process of maturation resumes. The aim of therapy is therefore not only symptom relief, but the formation of a life capable of carrying love, power, grief, and responsibility with greater steadiness.
Our Approach: Three Movements
-

Seeing and Being Seen.
At the core of our very humanity is the longing to be seen and know. We believe being seen is an inherent value of being alive. It is our intent to come to see you and your story deeply. To honor your story. To enter in with you to your own experiences so that, together, we can help you experience healing and wholeness. It is from within the story itself that healing, freedom, and life most often emerge.
-

Meaning Making.
Some of the stories we carry are rather difficult, confusing, complicated, and even frightening to enter alone.
A significant component of the healing journey is the work of discovering and naming what your experiences actually were and why they impacted you the way they did. As we make meaning and organize your experience, the path forward bings to emerge. -

Activating Growth.
As we are seen and begin to make meaning of our stories and experiences, the keys that unlock the way forward begin to emerge. The landscapes of our lives often included scattered keys that hold new imagination and opportunity. We are not key-makers, but we will help you find the keys that your pain has often hidden or stolen from you. And when found, we will help you find the doors they unlock.
